The evolution of resposible fatherhood and healthy families work has led to increased emphasis by the White House and Congress on evidence-based practice.  This means that services to fathers and families must have clear and measurable goals in which to evaluate their effectiveness.  To this end, the workshops presented at this year’s conference will highlight the best practices across thirteen areas in which researchers and practitioners are addressing and showing clear evidence of how positive impacts can be achieved in improving the lives of fathers and families.  As a result of these workshops, individuals and agencies will be able to effectively compete for available public funding fathers and families related services, and implement model programs that can endure systematic evaluation.

CONFERENCE PROGRAM ADS

DEAR IFC 2011 CONFERENCE ATTENDEES:

Leaders and practitioners in the field of responsible fatherhood, marriage, and healthy families must be aware and responsive in ways that reflect assets rather than deficits when it comes to our work.  As the President and Congress contemplate welfare reform and the future of responsible fatherhood/marriage/and healthy families policies, they are looking for results. How has the 5 year, $150 million investment in healthy marriage and responsible fatherhood programs benefitted (quantitatively and qualitatively) men, women and children receiving services?  This is a relevant question that will be addressed “head-on” at the 13th Annual International Fatherhood Conference.  In addition, this will be the first time that a fatherhood conference will focus solely on: results. The overall goal of the 2011 conference is to demonstrate that programs/services seeking to strengthen families towards improved child well-being, are working. We anticipate several white papers and briefs to be produced and disseminated to key stakeholders as a result of the conference.

We are inviting national research and evaluation organizations and practitioners with proven results in responsible fatherhood, healthy marriage, family strengthening and youth development to be workshop presenters at this 2011 fatherhood event. We plan to showcase plenary speakers and workshop presenters who have evidence-based approaches to responsible fatherhood and healthy marriage; curriculums; jobs programs; educational initiatives; middle school and high school programs; child support programs; domestic violence programs; early childhood development programs; health programs; youth development programs and criminal justice projects.

NPCL is confident that each attendee will be positively enriched by participating in our 2011 conference and we look forward to your joining us in our nation’s capital at this historic 2011 fatherhood event. Our children and families are counting on us show the difference we are making to improve their lives.

Thank you in advance for your presence and participation.

Sincerely,

Jeffery M. Johnson, Ph.D

President, NPCL
