Favorite Fathers of 2009  Student Essay Contest (Left to Right: NPCL President, Dr. Jeffery M. Johnson, Student Winners: Ana E. Ortez-Rivera, Donald Coleman & Ekram Jiru  R: Franklyn Malone, 2009 Favorite Father Chair)

This year's 2010 International Fatherhood Conference features an important issue across the U.S: The Education of Children. Research indicates that income growth is directly related to a person's educational attainment, parent involvement is a key indicator of a child's success, and community collaboration among schools, business (government and non-profit agencies) is essential to enabling children to reach their highest human potential.

To this end, this year's conference theme is, 'Parents and Communities Working Together to Ensure the Academic Success of Children". The conference objectives are to share research knowledge and promising practices in three areas: 1) Improving the educational level of low-income fathers, 2) Increasing the involvement of parents in general and fathers in particular, in the academic success of children, and 3) Creating partnerships between responsible fatherhood programs and schools. All Conference Speakers and Workshop Presenters are being asked to address these objectives.

We encourage you to join us at this knowledge-filled, and education-focused event of the summer!

INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING AT THE CONFERENCE?

Dear IFC 2010
Family:

It’s that time for another fantastic International Fatherhood Conference. As the longest running fatherhood conference in the world, the NPCL Board, staff, and 2010 Conference Planning Committee invite you to join us for sharing, learning, networking, and discovering solutions to strengthening families through positive and responsible father engagement.
I am excited to feature, as our critical issue to be addressed through the conference’s keynote addresses and evidenced-based workshops: EDUCATION.   In particular, maximizing educational opportunities for low-income and unemployed fathers, a s well as improving the academic achievement of our children through active involvement of dads and moms. As we come together in the great Super Bowl winning City of New Orleans, your presence, expertise, and passion will continue to help revitalize a city that is still reeling from the devastating after effects of Hurricane Katrina. The City of New Orleans is on the rebound. We all can help bring this great city back to its glory!
Please join me in making this the most successful conference ever.
Sincerely,
Jeffery M. Johnson, PhD,
President/CEO
The National Partnership for Community Leadership
